Bids for Joplin skatepark are being solicited
November 06, 2014
Bids are being solicited for a new skatepark to be located in Ewert Park, northeast of the tennis courts, a location that was once a softball field near School Avenue. While the Joplin Parks and Recreation Department is asking for construction plans and specifications for the project, the city of Joplin will solicit public input before a final design is determined. The target date for completion is May 22, 2015.

Bidders are being asked by the city to design a skatepark that is "state of the art and progressive." Constructed of poured concrete and concrete elements, the final product will be a minimum of 10,000 square feet.

The city is anticipating that part of the project will be funded by grant monies awarded by the National Park Service. The project budget for design, equipment and installation is $353,000.

For further details go here or here. All bids must be tendered by 3 p.m. on November 21, 2014. A contract will be awarded on December 16, 2014.
