As part of its 79th anniversary the Social Security Administration is encouraging everyone planning to receive benefits in the future to create a personal Social Security account.

Features of the account include a way to:

• Keep track of earnings and ability to verify them annually

• Estimate future benefits while still working

• Get a letter with proof of benefits if currently receiving them
