Firm chosen to advance library construction
August 19, 2014
The city of Joplin has hired CarrBaierCrandall (CBC) Real Estate Group of Kansas City, Missouri to supervise the library project on 20th and Connecticut. CBC will assist the city and library leaders in the design and construction phases of the library development and synchronize efforts of the city's master developer, Wallace Bejjali with the adjacent commercial development already underway.

We are excited to be at this stage of the program and look forward to working closely with CBC as we move into the next phase of retaining design and engineering services, said Tony Robyn, Joplins disaster recovery coordinator. He said the project is expected to take 18-24 months to complete and include multiple meetings to gain input from the community.

The project was approved by the Joplin City Council at their meeting August 18, 2014. It is a partnership with the Economic Development Administration, which awarded a $20 million grant to assist the commercial redevelopment of the area following the 2011 tornado. A meeting will be set up shortly to secure an architect to create conceptual designs and cost estimates.
