Breastfeeding group has new meeting time
February 05, 2016
The Newton County Health Department has announced that the location and time of the monthly breastfeeding support group meeting has changed. The meetings will now be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the One14 Coffee Bar, 114 N. Wood St., Neosho, on the first Thursday of each month. Although the Newton County WIC Program Breastfeeding Peer Counselors hold the monthly meetings, they are open to WIC and non-WIC women who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is the standard for infant feeding and protects infants and children from many significant infectious and chronic diseases. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and continued breastfeeding through the first year of life and beyond.
