Broadway hits will be featured at next OFO event
February 04, 2016
The Ozark Festival Orchestra will continue its 36th season with its annual pops concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at the Monett High School Performing Arts Center.

The theme for the concert will be "Broadway Hit Parade: Music from Wicked, Les Miserables, West Side Story, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady and Phantom of the Opera." Music director Todd Borgmann will lead the orchestra in eight extended selections, including a vocal offering from Les Miserables by soprano Robin Braun.

The pops concert will also include the orchestra's annual silent auction fundraiser for art lovers. Held in a different format this year, the auction will again offer food baskets, art prints, decorating pieces, classical music recordings and books as well as tickets to a show at the Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts in Springfield. There will be some specially made pies available for auction only on the bidding tables in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. The hall will be open a half hour before the concert for bidding and during intermission.

Admission to the concert will be $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and free to students high school age and younger. The Monett High School Performing Arts Center is located at 1 David Sippy Drive in Monett, off of East Cleveland Avenue by the Ramey Supermarket.

The OFO is a community orchestra composed of players from southwest Missouri and nearby towns, focusing primarily on classical music. Rehearsals are held weekly in Monett. The orchestra is supported by memberships, local foundations, ads in the orchestra program book and funds managed by the Monett Community Foundation.
