| 1,001 words | mariwinn | | Updated: 2009-04-02 12:35:14 |  | | | Dr. Joy Dworkin, professor of English and philosophy at Missouri Southern State University-Joplin waxes poetic over one of the photos in the PhotoSpiva exhibit at the Spiva Center for the Arts. Although they might not have been as eclectic or philosophical as their teacher, Dworkin's class came to the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts on March 31, 2009 to read poems they had created in response to selected photos. The event was called "1,001 words" and was an attempt to get college-age students interested in the art center and the community interested in poetry as a response to photography. |
