AARP Oklahoma will bring together tribal leaders from across the state in an unprecedented effort to unite Oklahoma’s 37 federally recognized tribes in a discussion on Indian health and long-term financial security.

The event–-part of AARP’s grass roots movement known as Divided We Fail--will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at the historic Coleman Theatre in downtown Miami. A panel discussion featuring tribal government leaders, Indian health leaders and financial experts will discuss how to break the gridlock in Washington and come up with solutions to provided quality, affordable health care and financial security to American Indians.

Traci McClellan, Executive Director of the National Indian Council on Aging, will deliver the keynote address that will follow the panel discussion.

The event is open to the public. Admission is free.

Divided We Fail is a bi-partisan movement sponsored by AARP, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Service Employees International Union and the Business Roundtable. The goal is to raise public awareness and demand actions and answers from elected leaders on quality, affordable health care and long-term financial security for all Americans.
